The village website for Sheldon, Derbyshire, DE45 1QS

Welcome to our beautiful village.

Our main village event every year is Sheldon Day, a traditional village fair held on the last Saturday in July.

This year Sheldon Day is on Saturday July 25th, with our fell race on Thursday July 23rd, from 7.00pm.

The day will open at 1pm this year (lasting until approximately 5pm), with the Hog Roast available from the start of the afternoon in the centre of the village.

This year we seem to have even more ways you can have fun and win prizes!  We will have a brand new 'Race Across Sheldon' treasure hunt, as well as all the usual stalls and stands,  including egg throwing, coconut shy, books, plants and cakes, splat-the-rat, bottle darts and of course the chocolate tombola.  The Ashbourne Brass Band will be playing as always, and the fun dog show will be over on the playing field, with the Magicians Tent and vintage steam engines, tractors and cars.

Don't forget to bring your sponge cakes, vegetable animals, jams, chutneys and decorated cup cakes for a chance to win a lovely rosette, and maybe even the best in show cup, at the Produce Tent.

There will also be ice-creams, and cream teas in the village hall to keep you going through the day.

The great Ball Race runs down the village as usual at 4.45, just before the Grand Raffle is drawn (both with great prizes), so don't forget to get there early to choose the winning ball and ticket!
